A$AP Rocky and Rihanna are ready to shift their focus to family.

Days after the rapper, 36, was acquitted in his high-profile felony assault trial, a source tells PEOPLE that he and Rihanna are turning their attention to sons RZA, 2½, and Riot, 18 months.

“They have lived in this stressful bubble for the past month. It’s been all about the trial,” the insider says. “They are planning a family trip with the kids to spend some quality family time and to get their minds in a better place.”

Rihanna, 37, was present in court during Rocky’s trial, and even brought their sons to the courtroom in Los Angeles to support him on Feb. 13. When the not guilty verdict was read aloud on Feb. 18, Rocky — who was facing up to 24 years behind bars if convicted — immediately jumped over the stand to hug the singer, as well as his mother and sister.

“Thank y’all for saving my life. Thank y’all for making the right decision,” he told the jury.

The “Work” singer later shared a message of gratitude on her Instagram Stories, writing, “The glory belongs to God and God alone! Thankful, humbled by His mercy!”

Rocky’s lawyer Joe Tacopina told reporters in January that the “Fashion Killa” rapper was ready to get the trial “over with so he can start enjoying his family.”

Rocky was acquitted of two charges of felony assault with a semiautomatic firearm. He’d been accused of firing a handgun at his former friend and A$AP Mob member A$AP Relli in a November 2021 altercation. Relli, who was not seriously hurt, said one of the shots had grazed his knuckle.

Tacopina’s argument hinged on his claim that Rocky was carrying a prop gun — claims the prosecution called “illogical” and “absurd.” Meanwhile, the defense also poked holes in Relli’s story, telling the jury he’d lied “to your faces.”

Rocky turned down a plea deal from prosecutors and opted instead for a trial by jury, risking 24 years in prison if found guilty. Had he accepted the deal, he would have served six months in jail and received a seven-year suspended sentence with three years on probation.

In court, District Attorney John Lewin asked the jury not to be swayed by Rihanna’s presence, saying it was “not something you’re allowed to consider.”

“I want to make sure that no matter how famous his [partner] is, no matter how cute his kids are, no matter how much they giggle during closing arguments... he needs to be treated like any other person. Because in the end that's what he's entitled to,” Lewin said.
