Spring beckons fresh beginnings and for renowned designer Vera Wang, this season is about entering an exciting era of bridal with new couture, new fragrance and a new collection of rings guaranteed to make that finger sparkle.
This month, Wang, 76, expanded on her partnership with Jared Jewelers with Vow, a collection of engagement and anniversary rings that perfectly marry fashion and functionality. Ranging from $900 to $8,800, the featured pieces boast natural and lab-grown diamonds (we're talking stunning princess-cut and baguette gemstones) and, overall, are designed with intention.

Wang tells PEOPLE that a large part of her inspiration came from ring trends of the '70s.
"When I was young, there was a trend of women always wearing their engagement rings and their wedding bands, they were really just clipped in together so they fit perfectly. I think as time went on, certainly women's lifestyles changed. Even though you may treasure your engagement ring, which is of course symbolic in its own right, it didn't mean necessarily you wanted to wear it every single day."
Wang decided to put a modern spin on the past by creating sustainable rings that could be worn in tandem or separately. A cohesive stack is something she would've wanted for herself. "I got an engagement ring and then I got married and got my wedding band, but they really had nothing to do with each other," she says.

The craftsmanship also leans into the direction bridalwear is heading in. "There's been this tremendous resurgence of dresses that are more minimal structural and cleaner," says Wang, adding that Vow is also centered around "giving women choices."
"That kind of encouragement with women to be themselves, embrace their uniqueness and their own sensibility is something we've always tried to do. That certainly speaks to this new line of jewelry."

She'll of course lend this advice to her own daughters, Cecilia and Josephine Becker, when they decide to get engaged. Although Wang saays her kids aren't at that stage of life just yet, she's staying busy by creating gorgeous creations for their best friends. "I love to see that kind of respect and love for other women."
Vow comes on the heels of the Jared Atelier x Vera Wang collaboration, which was launched in December. The release marked the third in the brand's high jewelry initiative and featured 14 limited-edition pieces adorning rubies and diamonds worth up to 150 carats.
